Matilda the Musical

St. John Theatre is excited to announce Matilda The Musical, as its 2025 summer musical. This  magical musical comedy has captivated the hearts of audiences across the globe. Join us as we continue our 40 + year tradition of bringing live theatrical entertainment to the river parishes. Now we have the opportunity to announce the unforgettable cast of Matilda The Musical as they bring this production to life.

Auditions were held at the theatre on W. 4th street recently, and we are pleased to announce the cast. Due to the overwhelming amount of talent that was present at auditions we have decided to do something that has not been done in a very long time on the St. John Theatre stage: double cast the show!

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her school teacher Miss Honey.

During her first term at school, the two forge a bond as Miss Honey begins to recognize and appreciate Matilda's extraordinary personality. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves to punish those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!

Matilda the Musical will be performed July 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, & 26 at 7:30pm and July 20th at 2:30pm.

Matilda the Musical  will be directed by Lucas Harms.
